Position Overview
SUMMARY:
Kemin is seeking a talented and dedicated General Manager responsible for providing strategic leadership for our Kemin Nutrisurance business unit, which offers inspired molecular solution to Pet food manufacturers. This executive level position will work with the senior management team to establish long-range goals, implementing strategies, and growing the business in APAC region. The GM APAC is responsible to implement and adapt KN Global Strategy to deliver annual financial objectives (Big 5) in Asia Pacific. Reporting to KN President, the GM APAC is a new position aimed to accelerate sales growth in the Pet food fastest growing Region, while strengthening local autonomy in terms of resources generally and more particularly in terms of industrial footprint for KN product platforms. This position will be based in China. The position will require up to 50% travel, primarily to Asia Pacific region.
What you’ll be doing:
Management:
• Meet or exceed financial and strategic objectives
• Direct management for sales & marketing, customer service, quality & regulatory
• Matrix management with Operations, Finance and HR
• Achieve the quality and service requirements of KN and its customers
• Build and lead KN Leadership Team in APAC
• Develop and optimize Kemin resources in APAC in strong collaboration with other Kemin BUs
• Recruit, develop and train KN staff in APAC in close collaboration with Regional HR
Customers:
• Build and lead Sales & Marketing activities in APAC
• Direct lead for China, leveraging existing or future resources for other countries in APAC
• Understand customer needs and leverage product development platforms to answer them
• Ensure the delivery of “Customer Lab Services” to APAC customers
• Provide technical support to Pet food customers in improving their market share
• Work with local Pet food manufacturers and share Kemin’s global expertise and improve their brand and Market Share
Manufacturing (in close collaboration with Global Operations):
• Responsible to develop KN Industrial Footprint in APAC
• Identify and qualify local suppliers
• Ensure facility meets Kemin’s quality standards
• Ensure product produced meets QC release standards
• Optimize performance to deliver financial objectives and continuous improvements
• Formulate and execute major policies, programs and objectives to promote and ensure the company’s continued success and growth.
• Execute the strategic and tactical operational growth plans for the company, with emphasis on continued expansion into new products and markets.
• Take a leadership role in formulating and articulating the company’s vision and mission and achieve maximum efficiency and profit objectives through the efforts of a strong management team.
• Develop management personnel and implement effective succession plans as well as foster an achievement-oriented culture based on continuous learning principles where employees are motivated and rewarded for both individual and team contributions.
• Oversee all functional areas of the business unit as well as craft and execute the company\\\'s continued growth strategy.
• Decision-making must be fast, thoughtful and timely with unwavering ability to embrace progressive change.
• Help forecast the future concerning various business opportunities and lead the formation of additional strategic partnerships.
• Continue to reinforce a sense of urgency with time-to-market first-mover advantage and ensure timely delivery of future products.
• Provide the energy and guidance necessary to motivate staff to excel throughout the organization and ensure effective communication while promoting a sense of participation and involvement.
Qualifications
• Graduate or Post-Graduate degree from an accredited university or college in business, science, or another field
• 5-10 years of previous management experience in business management with previous experience in more than one of the following areas is required: sales, finance, marketing, research and development, or manufacturing
• 5-10 years of previous management experience in China and a high degree of exposure to APAC and Global markets.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in pet food and/or feed ingredients
• Management experience with personnel in plant environment
• Management experience with multiple functions and locations
• Successful background in employee selection and development
• Understands manufacturing processes
• Experience is working within a regulated environment
• Experience in starting a business and effective use of resources
• Experienced in meeting or exceeding goals for a business
• Market savvy and understanding of the pet food business
• Speaks Mandarin and English
• Willingness to travel Globally (WW)
